Explore the Eternal City on an Italy Tour
Upon arrival in Rome for our Italy tour, we board our bus and drive into the city. We cross the third century Aurelian City Wall from Via Cristoforo Colombo and pass the Caracalla Baths, and the Circus Maximus with a stop for a quick photo. Then we continue the sightseeing Italy tour with a drive by the Bocca della Verità, the Teatro di Marcello, the Capitoline Hill and across the Piazza Venezia. We check in at our hotel, and after refreshing and resting, we go out for a special Welcome Dinner at a local restaurant. After breakfast the next morning, we board the bus and drive to the Vatican Museums. We are guided through portions of the museum and enter the Sistine Chapel to view Michelangelo’s ceiling masterpiece. Then our guide takes us into St. Peter’s Basilica, where we see the Pietà and much more. In the afternoon, we board our bus to go to the Catacombs of San Sebastian. Then we visit the basilica of St. Paul’s Outside the Walls, before returning to the city to take an Italy tour of St. Clement’s Basilica. The remainder of the day is free time on your own. You may explore Rome at your leisure, or take the bus back to the hotel to rest and relax before dinner.
Walk the Ancient Streets of Pompeii
After breakfast, we board our bus for an Italy tour of Santa Maria Della Vittoria, where we view a breathtaking sculpture by Bernini. From there we go to the Trevi Fountain, where we follow the tradition of tossing a coin into the fountain. Then we walk to the Pantheon. We enjoy one of the best coffees in town at Tazza d’Oro and continue our walking tour to Piazza Navona, where there will be time for lunch on your own. After lunch, we visit the church of Il Gesù and from there continue to the Capitoline Hill for a visit to the Capitoline Museum. The remainder of the day is free time. You may explore Rome on your own or take the bus back to the hotel. The next day, we enjoy an Italy tour out of the Eternal City. After breakfast, our bus takes us to Pompeii for a full-day excursion. While here, we explore the ruins of a civilization destroyed by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D. Lunch is on your own and we return to Rome before dinner time.
Discover the Roman Colosseum
The morning is dedicated to an Italy tour of the excavations under the basilica of St. Peter. Before or after your visit, you can shop in the Prati Quarter and have lunch on your own. In the afternoon, we visit St John in Lateran, see the Scala Santa and then proceed to St Mary Major. Following breakfast, we visit the Colosseum, Arch of Constantine, and Arch of Titus. We continue our Italy tour of the Roman Forum, Trajan’s Column, and the Mamertine Museum. In the afternoon, you have free time to explore the Eternal City on your own. Later in the evening, we enjoy a farewell dinner with delicious food and musical entertainment. Since this will be our last night in Rome, we enjoy a panoramic bus tour of illuminated Rome at night. We transfer to the airport for our return flight back home.
