Meet Seals and Penguins on Adventure Travel

After arriving in South Africa, our adventure travel begins with a full-day tour of Cape Point and Peninsula, including a Seal Island cruise in Hout Bay and a scenic drive along Chapman’s Peak.  We will then see panoramic views of Cape Point and the lighthouse by taking a funicular ride. Known as the Flying Dutchman funicular this cable-railway is believed to be the only commercial funicular of its type in Africa. It is named after the local legend of the Flying Dutchman ghost ship. Next, we visit the penguins at Boulders Beach.  Afterwards, we enjoy an authentic South African experience for dinner. We will be welcomed by a lively and fun session of djembe drumming, providing the opportunity for us to learn to play some North African Rhythms with Ezzi. Followed by a soothing hand washing experience, we will be served a Cape Malay and African feast at our table. During our adventure travel this evening, three different live performances will include Mali Puppets, singers, dancers and Ezzi, which will be performing in your dining room.

Tour Islands, Harbors & Lagoons

After breakfast at the hotel, our guide will pick us up for our drive to V&A Waterfront. We will visit Robben Island, including two half-hour ferry rides, a visit to the famous Maximum Security Prison, interaction with an ex-political prisoner, and a 45-minute guided bus ride. We will also have the opportunity on our adventure travel to explore the Murray’s bay Harbour precinct activities such as the Muslim shrine or museum shop. After the tour, we can shop with our guide. The next day we will check out and begin a half-day Cape Town City tour. We will then transfer to airport and fly to Durban. After arriving at the Durban King Shaka Airport, we will meet our English speaking guide and take a half-day city tour, which includes a drive through the Blue Lagoon area on the Umgeni River where you get a panoramic view of the whole bay of Durban. Then on our adventure travel we will drive past the beaches on the Marine Parade on the way to the Point Waterfront area. We journey past the harbor and various historical museums and then through the City Centre past the City Hall. Those wanting to return to hotel can be dropped off before others visit the Ushaka Marine World with its aquariums and restaurants (not included).

Take a Safari Through Kruger National Park

While on our adventure travel, we drive to Wittenberg and fellowship with friends at the Lutheran Church.  The next day we enjoy an early breakfast and then depart for Kruger Park area where we will reside for the next two nights. We drive to Skukuza rest camp where we will check into our bungalows. The afternoon/evening offers an optional game drive. On the following day, we will awake early to meet our rangers for a full-day open vehicle safari in Kruger National Park. Following this exhilarating ride, we will return to Skukuza rest camp for breakfast. After breakfast, we will continue on the open vehicle safari. In late afternoon, the rangers will drop us off back at Skukuza rest camp.

The next morning of adventure travel will begin with an open vehicle game drive followed by breakfast at Skukuza rest camp. Afterwards, we board our coach and continue our sightseeing with a game drive in the Skukuza/Lower Sabie area. After lunch, we will continue on a game drive. Next, we exit the park at Phabeni Gate and drive to our hotel near White River for dinner and overnight.

Visit Middelburg Ministries

Following breakfast, we will drive along the Panorama Route, including God’s Window to Middelburg. We will visit St. Peter Christian College and Bethel Preschool. A highlight of our day will be joining each for chapel. The next day on our adventure travel we will visit the Middelburg area and other aspects of the ministries there, including Caring Friends, a dynamic mercy ministry to those afflicted with HIV/AIDS. After breakfast the next day, we will worship together and attend the celebrations for the 25th Anniversary of St. Peter Confessional Lutheran Church before returning to the U.S.A.
