Our journey begins as we board our overnight flight to Geneva, Switzerland. Enjoy meals and refreshments according to the airline’s schedule as we travel toward the cities and places that helped shape the Protestant Reformation.

Upon arrival in Geneva, we meet our tour director and board our motorcoach. An introductory tour acquaints us with this beautiful city beside Lake Geneva, where elegant waterfront promenades meet the winding streets of the historic Old Town. We enjoy views of the lake and the celebrated Jet d’Eau before checking into our hotel.

This evening, we gather for a welcome dinner and an introduction to our journey through the history, faith, and enduring influence of the Reformers.

Today we explore Geneva’s important role in Protestant history. Walking through the Old Town, we visit St. Peter’s Cathedral, closely associated with John Calvin’s preaching ministry. Its restrained interior provides a meaningful setting to reflect on the renewed emphasis on Scripture and worship during the Reformation.

We continue to the International Museum of the Reformation, where exhibits introduce the people, ideas, and events that shaped the movement and its influence beyond Switzerland.

At the Reformation Wall in Parc des Bastions, we see the monumental figures of John Calvin, William Farel, Theodore Beza, and John Knox. Our guide explains their contributions and the connections between Geneva and the wider Protestant world.

Later, enjoy free time to explore the Old Town, browse local shops, or stroll along the lake. A group devotional can conclude our sightseeing with reflection on the authority of Scripture and the call to live faithfully.

After breakfast, we depart Geneva and travel through Switzerland’s picturesque countryside to Lucerne, beautifully situated beside its lake and surrounded by mountain scenery.

An orientation walk introduces us to the inviting Old Town, with its decorated buildings, historic squares, and famous Chapel Bridge. Enjoy time for lunch and photographs along the waterfront before we continue to Zurich.

Upon arrival, we begin discovering the city whose churches and historic streets preserve the story of the Swiss Reformation.

This morning, we explore Zurich’s Protestant heritage, focusing on Huldrych Zwingli and his successor, Heinrich Bullinger. We visit the Grossmünster, where Zwingli’s preaching helped spark the Reformation in German-speaking Switzerland.

Our walking tour includes the Zwingli monument near the Wasserkirche and the surrounding Old Town. Along the way, we learn how preaching, biblical study, and debates about church practice transformed religious life in Zurich.

Following time for lunch, we cross into Germany and continue to Heidelberg, a historic university city situated along the Neckar River. If arrival time permits, an evening stroll introduces us to its charming Old Town.

We begin our morning in Heidelberg’s historic center, enjoying its lively squares, traditional architecture, and views of the impressive castle overlooking the city.

Our Protestant emphasis includes the Heidelberg Catechism, first published in 1563. We consider its enduring influence within the Reformed tradition and its memorable presentation of Christian faith, comfort, and gratitude.

We then travel to Worms, where Martin Luther appeared before the imperial assembly in 1521. Here, he refused to retract his writings unless persuaded by Scripture and sound reason. At the Luther Monument, we reflect on the courage and conviction associated with this defining moment in Reformation history.

Later, we continue to Eisenach, nestled beneath the wooded heights of Wartburg Castle.

This morning, we visit Wartburg Castle, one of the most meaningful stops on our journey. Within these walls, Luther found refuge following the Diet of Worms and translated the New Testament from Greek into German.

Our guided visit introduces the castle’s history and the setting of Luther’s work. Together, we reflect on the far-reaching importance of making Scripture accessible in the language of ordinary people.

Returning to Eisenach, we enjoy a brief orientation to the town where Luther spent part of his youth before departing for Augsburg. This is one of our longer travel days, with stops for lunch and comfort along the way.

Today we discover Augsburg’s significant place in Protestant history. We visit St. Anne’s Church, where Luther stayed during his 1518 visit, and explore the Luther Steps exhibition, which recounts the Reformation story in Augsburg.

Our guide introduces Luther’s encounter with Cardinal Cajetan and the developing dispute over his teachings. We also consider the Augsburg Confession of 1530, a foundational statement of Lutheran belief presented at the imperial assembly.

A walk through the historic center adds an appreciation of Augsburg’s architecture and its place in Germany’s religious and civic history.

In the afternoon, we travel into the Bavarian Alps to the Oberammergau area. Mountain scenery welcomes us as we arrive in a region known for painted houses, woodcarving traditions, and the remarkable community commitment behind the Passion Play.

Today brings one of the most anticipated experiences of our journey: the Oberammergau Passion Play.

The morning provides time to explore the village, browse its woodcarving shops, and admire the painted façades that give Oberammergau its distinctive character. Before the performance, our group can gather for a devotional focusing on Christ’s sacrificial love and the hope of His resurrection.

We then attend the Passion Play, experiencing the story of Jesus’ suffering, death, and resurrection through drama, music, and the dedication of the village community. This moving portrayal offers an opportunity to reflect personally on the events at the heart of our Christian faith.

Overnight in Oberammergau or a nearby village.

Following breakfast, we depart through the scenic Bavarian countryside and continue to Munich.

Our sightseeing introduces us to the city’s historic heart, including Marienplatz, the New Town Hall with its celebrated Glockenspiel, and exterior views of the Frauenkirche. The Glockenspiel viewing will depend on our arrival time.

Subject to access, we also include St. Matthew’s Church, a prominent Protestant church in Munich, with an introduction to the development of Protestant worship in the Bavarian capital.

Later, enjoy free time to explore the Old Town, shop for souvenirs, or relax at a café. This evening, we gather for a farewell dinner, sharing memories and reflecting on the faith, courage, and devotion encountered throughout our journey.

After breakfast, we transfer to Munich Airport for our return flight. We travel home with a deeper appreciation of the Protestant Reformation, meaningful memories of Switzerland and Germany, and the powerful experience of the Oberammergau Passion Play.
