We have recently been advised of the passing of a new law (5162/ 2024 – Article 27) by the Greek Government to apply a Sustainable Tourism Development Fee to all cruise tourists, which will be effective from July 21, 2025.
To facilitate the collection of this tax, Celestyal will collect the applicable local government taxes based on disembarked ports for all guests, upon check out. This will be calculated based on the number of guests going ashore in each Greek port and added to each individual disembarking guests onboard account each day of the cruise. This is not a Celestyal charge, but a mandatory levy by the Greek authorities that we are collecting on their behalf, as required by the relevant legislation.
We have been advised that the new port tax will be applied as follows (up to May 31, 2026):
| July 01 – September 30 (Peak Season) |
€20 per person for each visit to Santorini and Mykonos €5 per person for all other Greek ports. |
| October 01 – October 31 April 01 – May 31 (Shoulder Season) |
€12 per person for Santorini and Mykonos €3 per person for all other ports. |
| November 01 – March 31 (Off-Peak Season) |
€4 per person for Santorini and Mykonos €1 per person for all other ports. |
We will ensure all booked guests and travel partners are provided with clear communication regarding the tax to help guarantee a smooth and seamless arrival in the Greek Isles. Information on the Sustainable Tourism Development Fee charges is available to view here.
