Day 01
USA / AMMAN
Our journey of a lifetime begins with an evening departure on Royal Jordanian wide-body jet. After take-off, we will be served dinner and breakfast and lunch. -
Day 02
Arrive amman / Dead sea
Upon arrival at Alia Gateway Airport in Amman, we will be met by our agent who assists us through customs and security. Transfer to our hotel at the Dead Sea for dinner and overnight. After dinner enjoy a relaxing swim/float in the Dead Sea under the moonlight. -
Day 03
Dead sea / Bethany beyond the jordan / Machareus / Mt. nebo / Petra
This morning our first visit will be "Bethany Beyond the Jordan" where tradition holds that John the Baptist, baptized Jesus (John 1:28 and 10:40). We will visit Machareus and then onto Mt. Nebo, to stand where Moses stood to view the Promised Land. After stopping for a light lunch we will continue our drive south along the New Kings Highway for Petra for dinner and overnight. -
Day 04
Petra / Lot's cave / Aqaba
After breakfast we visit Petra, "rose red city half as old as time." This ancient Edomite and Nabatean capital is an amazing example of prophecy. We’ll see the spectacular "city of the dead," with its famed gorge, ancient streets, temples, dwelling places and tombs, carved in the solid rock. Then we arrive at El-Ji Post, and continue the one mile journey on horseback, or walk, passing through the famous Siq (the natural gorge) and arrive at the Treasury. In the afternoon, we visit Roman Temple Ruins of Roman City, Nabatean Judgment Hall, Palace Tombs, and famous Urn Temple, Roman Amphitheatre. Those willing to climb may view the Monastery, Jebel Harun (mountains of Aaron), supposed to be the burial place of Aaron. Horseback journey back to El-Ji Post. After a late lunch we depart Petra and travel south via Tafileh for Lot’s Sanctuary Cave near modern Safi. Continue to Aqaba and the Red Sea for dinner and overnight. -
Day 05
Aqaba / Eilat / Wilderness / Masada / Dead sea
This morning we leave Jordan and cross the Sheik Hussein Bridge for Eilat - Israel. After border formalities, we will be met by our Israel representative, and transfer to our motorcoach for our brief sightseeing tour of Eilat, before driving north through the Wilderness of Judah for Masada, where we will ascend high upon the wilderness mountain by way of the cable car to the fortress built by King Herod. Here we survey the ruins of the fortifications, waterworks, synagogue, temples and palaces. Our guide will point out to us the area -- region of where Sodom and Gomorrah would have taken place. We will have time to swim/float once again in the Dead Sea. Dinner and overnight at the Dead Sea. -
Day 06
Qumran / Ein gedi / Beit shan / Jericho / Jerusalem
Our first stop will be Qumran and the possible settlement of the first century sect known as the Essenes, the authors of the Dead Sea Scrolls. Following the road north along the western shore of the Dead Sea, we will stop at Ein Gedi where David hid from King Saul. We begin our way up to Jerusalem along the Old Jericho Road. The highway we take will include many of the following biblical sites: Mt. Tabor (Judges 4); Ein Harod (Judg. 7:1); Beit Shan (1 Sam. 31:10); and Jericho (Josh. 26; Mark 10:46; Luke 19:1). The road from Jericho to Jerusalem is an ascent of 4000 feet in 13 miles. Dinner and overnight in Jerusalem. -
Day 07
Mt. of olives / Temple mount / via dolorosa / Western wall / Bethl
We begin our explorations with a drive to the beautiful Mt. of Olives to behold the breathtaking panorama of the Holy City. Our pilgrimage will proceed to the Church of Ascension, descend to Gethsemane with its ancient olive grove, and there visit the Church of Agony, where tradition holds that Jesus prayed. We will enter Jerusalem through the Dung Gate, and walk to the holiest site in the whole Jewish world, the Western Wall (Wailing Wall) of Herod’s temple. Beyond the wall lies the 35 acre temple area purchased by King David (2 Sam. 24:18-25). On this site now stands the magnificent Dome of the Rock (the third holiest shrine in all Islam) and the El Aksa Mosque. From the temple area, we make our way to St. Stephen’s Gate, St. Anne’s Crusader Church, Pools of Bethesda, the Sister of Zion Convent (to see the Pavement where Jesus stood as he was being tried by Pilate), Ecco Homo Arch, and then follow the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre and the ancient Cardo. This afternoon we will pass by Rachel’s tomb on the outskirts of Bethlehem, and visit the Church of the Nativity and Shepherd’s Field. You will be fascinated by your visit to a model of Jerusalem near the Holyland Hotel (1 to 50 scale model of Herodian Jerusalem as it would have appeared in Jesus'' time), view Israel’s Knesset, the huge bronze Menorah, and time permitting we will visit Yad Vashem Memorial with a special visit to Chandler’s grave. -
Day 08
Hezikiah''s tunnel / The upper room / Israel museum / Garden tomb
We begin the day with a short drive to Hezekiah’s Tunnel. Those willing will have an opportunity to walk through the recently excavated "shaft" to see the water cistern during the time of King David. From here we drive to Ein Karem village, the birthplace of John the Baptist, to see the Church of Visitation, and then go to Mt. Zion, The Upper Room, where Jesus spent those last momentous hours with his disciples before his passion, and it was also here where the Holy Spirit came upon the disciples on Pentecost. From there we will go to the Israel Museum, including the Bronfman Archaeological Museum and the Shrine of the Book Museum, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are displayed. Late in the afternoon we will visit the Garden Tomb. -
Day 09
Caesarea / Megiddo / Nazareth / Tiberias
Today we depart Jerusalem for the Galilee, visiting the following biblical sites: Caesarea (Acts 9 & 25), Mt. Carmel (1 Kgs. 18), Megiddo (Armageddon; 1 Kgs. 9:15; Rev. 16:16), Nazareth (Luke 1 & 2), Cana (John 2) and Tiberias (John 6:23). Dinner and overnight in Tiberias. -
Day 10
Galilee / Capernaum / Mt. of beatitudes / Caesarea philippi / Arava border - for jordan
There is nothing quite like watching a sunrise on the Sea of Galilee from your hotel room.. Today will include many biblical sites along the shore of the Sea of Galilee and in the Upper Jordan Valley: e.g. Boat ride across the Sea of Galilee; Capernaum (Matt. 4:13), Mount of Beatitudes (Matt. 57), Tabgha (Feeding of 5000; Mark 6), Church of Peter of Primacy (John 21), Magdala (Matt. 15:39; Luke 8:2); Caesarea Philippi (Paneas; Mark 8:27), view Mt. Hermon (Deut. 3:8), Border of Lebanon (Josh. 11:17), and Hazor (Josh. 11:10; 1 Kgs. 9:15). We leave the Galilee and travel to the Israel-Jordan Arava Border/ After border formalities, we are met by our representative and transfer to or motorcoach for our drive to Amman. Dinner and overnight in Amman. -
Day 11
AMMAN / U.S.A.
Morning transfer to the airport for our return flight home. The close of an unforgettable tour, we bring with us lasting memories of the Old and New Testament, a renewal of our faith, and a greater understanding of the life and ministry of our Lord.
